Scope:This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of hand forgings procured to inch/pound dimensions. MAM 4247 is the metric version of this MAM.MIL-H-15317C (NOTICE 3), MILITARY SPECIFICATION: HOISTS, CHAIN OR WIRE ROPE, ELECTRIC POWER OPERATED, LUG, HOOK, OR TROLLEY SUSPENSION AND BASE MOUNTED (18 FEB 2003) [S/S BY ASME HST-1]., MIL-H-15317C is inactive for new design and is no longer used, except for replacement purposes. Future acquisitions for new design of MIL-H-15317C should be made under ASME HST-1, "Performance Standard for Electric Chain Hoists".(Copies of ASME publications are available from ASME International, Three Park Avenue, New York, NY 10016-5990, or www.asme.org.)
